The Psychology Trap That's Costing You Buyers

Buyers don't give you the benefit of the doubt.
They give you 3 seconds (or less).
That's how long you have before they bounce to another site, tab, or your competitor.
It’s down to a principle known as Cognitive Load.
It describes how much information we’re trying to process, use, or remember at one time.
There’s only so much our brains can take in.
And when there’s too much information flying at us, it feels stressful and overwhelming.
Rather than spending more time trying to figure out if an overly complicated website, piece of content, or ad is worth further attention…
The brain just flags it as "too much work" and moves on.
In those 3 seconds, people are trying to answer a lot of subconscious questions really quickly:
“What is this?”
“Can I trust this?”
“Is this for me?”
And if they can’t figure out the answers pretty fast… they’re gone.
I see this all the time in my clients’ websites, offers, messaging, ads, checkouts, product pages, and content.
They have a great product or service, but it never reaches its full potential because their marketing just gets in the way.
And it’s really not their fault.
It’s because it’s almost impossible to see your marketing through someone else’s eyes.
Especially when your buyers have infinite options and they’re all literally 1 click away.
Your products and services might be amazing.
But if your marketing can’t pass the 3-Second Test, the rest doesn’t matter.
Until next time,
Jen
